Iran Professional League: Persepolis Suffers Defeat
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Tehran's popular football team, Persepolis, tasted defeat in the second week of the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Thursday.
The Reds lost to Esteghlal Khuzestan 2-1 in Ahvaz’s Ghadir Stadium.
Hasan Beit Saeed scored twice in the 47th and 57th minutes to give Abdollah Veisi’s team a two-goal lead.
Persepolis captain Hadi Norouzi was sent off by referee Mohsen Torki after receiving a straight red card in the 67th minute.
Persepolis striker Mehdi Taremi pulled a goal back with three minutes remaining.
Elsewhere, Padideh of Mashhad drew 1-1 with Foolad, Rah Ahan of Tehran lost to Saipa 2-0, and Naft Tehran was held to a 1-1 draw by Saba.
