Envoy Expects Iran’s Closer Economic Ties with Russia, Azerbaijan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan said he sees a bright prospect for the trilateral economic relations between Tehran, Moscow and Baku, highlighting the significance of the next meeting of the three countries’ presidents in Iran.

“I believe that economic cooperation between the three countries (Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan) will develop in spite of the complicated and tough conditions of the international economy,” Mohsen Pak-Ayeen said on Wednesday.

Making a reference to a trilateral meeting of Iranian, Russian and Azeri presidents, held in Baku on Monday, the ambassador said coordinated policies serve the interests of the three nations and will also benefit the region.

He also highlighted the suitable grounds for investment projects that the three countries can jointly implement.

Pak-Ayeen went on to urge detailed planning for the next trilateral summit, due to be held in Iran.

Speaking at a meeting with his Russian and Azeri counterparts in Baku on Monday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hailed the idea of joint meetings, saying such gatherings can help the three countries use opportunities to enhance ties in various political, cultural and economic fields and resolve regional challenges through synergy.
