Iran’s Bakhshi, Babalou Win Gold, Bronze at World Taekwondo Junior Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Amir Mohammad Bakhshi and Mobina Babalou won gold and bronze medals respectively on Day 3 of the 2016 WTF World Taekwondo Junior Championships.

In the Male -63kg class, Bakhshi defeated Nikita Pushanko of Russia 4-0 and won a gold medal.

The Iranian also defeated rivals from Lithuania, Belgium, South Korea and Turkey in the class.

Also, Babalou claimed a bronze medal in the Female -55kg class.

Gold medal went to Lijun Zhou of China who defeated Kristina Beros of Croatia.

Mobina Nejad Katesari won a gold medal on Day 1 of the competition in the Female -42kg category at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre in Burnaby, Canada.

On Day 2, Ebrahim Safari seized a silver medal in the Male -51kg weight class and Ali Baseri won a bronze medal in the Male -55kg.

With 846 competitors and 458 officials registered, representing 102 countries, Burnaby 2016 is the biggest World Juniors ever.
