Iran’s Mardani Wins Gold at WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sajjad Mardani from Iran claimed a gold medal on the second day of the 2016 WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final.

In the Male +80kg weight category, Mardani defeated Russian Vladislav Larin 4-3 and won the gold medal.

In the bronze medal match, Roman Kuznetsov of Russia fought a very smart, mobile game against Issoufou. The towering Rio silver medalist from Niger, looked slow and uninspired throughout; the Russian took the bronze with a 2-1 victory.

The Grand Prix final pitted 118 athletes from 41 nations against each other for medals, prize money and early ranking points ahead of the 2017 fighting season.
