Iran’s Airspace One of Safest in World: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili highlighted the country’s latest achievements in the area of air defense, describing the Islamic Republic’s airspace as one of the safest in the world.

The Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base ensures the security of more than 1,200 flights that pass through Iran’s airspace every day, Brigadier General Esmaili said on Wednesday.

“(Today) Iran’s sky is one of the safest (in the world),” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the commander said that air defense systems have been deployed in 3,700 points across Iran, noting that plans have been devised to increase the number to 5,000 in the next five years.

Back in September 2015, the commander had also hailed the Iranian airspace as the most secure in the Middle East region, saying that the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base has managed to realize the safest airspace of the region, which is unprecedented in the last 70 years.
