AFC Champions League: Iran’s Zob Ahan Beats Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Zob Ahan of Iran defeated Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor 2-1 in Matchday 4 of the 2017 AFC Champions League on Tuesday.
Zob Ahan football team maintained the pressure on Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli and Al Ain from the United Arab Emirates at the top of Group C.
Headers from Vahid Mohammadzadeh and Morteza Tabrizi in the fifth and 54th minutes respectively were enough to secure all three points for the Iranian team.
Shakzodbek Nurmatov pulled a goal back in the 72nd minute.
The victory moves the Iranian side on to seven points from four games and keeps Mojtaba Hosseini’s side in the hunt for a place in the knockout phase of this year’s competition with two rounds remaining.
Elsewhere, Al Ahli drew with Al Ain 2-2 in the group.
Al Ahli remains top of the group with eight points, one point more than Zob Ahan and two points more than Al Ain.
