Dozens of Saudi Mercenaries Killed in Yemeni Forces’ Fresh Attacks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The forces of Yemen’s army and Popular Committees, in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi-led coalition, managed to kill dozens of the Riyadh regime’s mercenaries in the Arabian Peninsula country’s provinces of al-Bayda and al-Jawf.
A Yemeni military source said a number of the mercenaries of fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, an ally of Riyadh, were killed in an attack by Yemeni troops on their positions in al-khanjar district, east of Jawf Province, the Arabic-language Al Mayadeen reported.
In a surprise operation, Yemeni forces also pounded the positions of the militants affiliated with al-Qaeda in the northeastern parts of Bayda province.
The operations came as fierce clashes are underway between Yemeni forces and the Saudi-led coalition’s troops in various parts of Nihm District in Sana'a Province.
In another development, more than a dozen Saudi-backed militants loyal to Hadi were killed when a roadside bomb explosion ripped through their military vehicle in the country’s southwestern province of Ta’iz.
Yemeni troops and allied fighters from Popular Committees detonated a bomb as a vehicle was travelling north of Khalid military camp in the Mawza district, killing 14 Saudi mercenaries, a Yemeni military source told the Arabic-language al-Masirah television network.
Yemen's Saba News Agency also reported that the air defense forces of the Arab country on Wednesday managed to shoot down a reconnaissance drone of the Saudi-led coalition when it was flying over a border area in the kingdom’s southern region of Asir.
The attacks come in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians and destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure by the coalition led by the Riyadh regime.
Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Hadi.
Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
