Esteghlal Midfielder Farshid Esmaeili Sidelined for Rest of Season
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Esteghlal football club's midfielder Farshid Esmaeili has been sidelined for the rest of the season due to the injury.
Esmaeili has suffered a lower abdominal injury and must undergo surgery.
With four weeks remaining, Esteghlal is second in Iran Professional League (IPL) table, five points adrift of leader Persepolis.
Esmaeili, who missed a penalty in Tehran derby against Persepolis in late March, is a pivotal player for the Blues and his absence would be a huge blow for them.
