Iranian Weightlifter Provisionally Suspended for Doping Violation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian weightlifter Mohammad Hosseini has tested positive for the anabolic steroid oxymetholone.

As a consequence, the athlete is provisionally suspended in view of a potential anti-doping rule violation, the International Weightlifting Federation announced.

In any case where it is determined that the athlete did not commit an anti-doping rule violation, the relevant decision will also be published. IWF will not make any further comments on the case until it is closed, it said.

Hosseini claimed a silver medal by lifting a total of 349kg in the 89kg in the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Junior World Championships held in Fiji in June.

He lifted 157kg in snatch and 191kg in clean and jerk.
