Iran Overpowers Sri Lanka at Asian Volleyball C’ship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran swept aside Sri Lanka at the 2019 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship on Friday.

In the match, held at the 12,000-seater Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran, Iran overpowered Sri Lanka 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23) in Pool A.

Team Melli will meet Qatar and Australia on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The Tehran championship will also serve as the Tokyo 2020 Asian Olympic qualification tournament with the top-eight teams making it to the Olympic qualifiers.

The 2020 Men's Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament will be held in Jiangmen, China from January 7 to 12, 2020.

The 2019 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship is the twentieth edition of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF).
