Iran’s Kianoush Rostami Wins Silver at Qatar Weightlifting Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Kianoush Rostami from Iran claimed a silver medal at the 6th Qatar International Weightlifting Cup on Sunday.
The 96kg weightlifter lifted 178kg in snatch and 225kg in clean and jerk and won the silver medal for a total of 403kg.
Fares Ibrahim Hassouna of Qatar won the gold medal with a total of 404kg.
Ali Miri from Iran claimed the bronze medal with 371kg.
The competition is being held in Doha, Qatar from December 19 to 24.
Ali Miri, Ayoub Mousavi and Kianoush Rostami are participating in the men’s division and Elham Hosseini and Parisa Jahanfekrian are competing in the women’s division.
The event is approved by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) as an Olympic qualification event in the silver category.
