Iran Praises Azerbaijan’s Backing in Coronavirus Battle

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed gratitude to the Republic of Azerbaijan for the neighboring country’s support in the course of efforts to contain the novel coronavirus epidemic in Iran.

Zarif and his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov held a telephone conversation on Sunday about the outbreak of the coronavirus in the region and the world.

In their talks, the two senior diplomats stressed the need for collective cooperation among all countries in the battle with COVID-19.

Also, Zarif expressed gratitude to the Republic of Azerbaijan’s government and nation for their assistance.

He further denounced the cruel and unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States as a major obstacle to Iran’s fight against the dangerous virus, stressing, nonetheless, that Iran and the world will get through such a difficult stage.

The death toll form coronavirus in Iran rose to 724 on Sunday, while nearly 4,600 patients have recovered from the disease in the country so far.
