Iran’s Yekta Jamali Wins Silver at Youth World Weightlifting Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian female weightlifter Yekta Jamali snatched a silver medal in the 2021 Youth World Weightlifting Championships on Monday.

She won the silver in the -81kg by lifting 90kg in snatch and 115kg in clean and jerk for a total lift of 205kg.

Jamali became the first Iranian woman weightlifter to win a silver medal in the world championships.

Georgian weightlifter Natia Gadelia claimed the gold with 208kg and Russian Daria Meshcherakova won the bronze medal with 201kg.

Jamali had previously seized the Iran’s first medal in the history in the 2021 IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships in May in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, winning a bronze medal in the 87kg.
