Iran Condemns Terrorist Attack on Afghan Foreign Ministry

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian condemned a suicide terrorist attack outside the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan in Kabul that has killed at least 20 people.

In a telephone conversation with acting foreign minister of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi on Thursday, Amirabdollahian condemned the terror operation in Kabul that left a number of staffers of Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry dead or injured.

The Iranian minister also expressed condolences with the acting Afghan foreign minister, the ministry’s staffers and their families, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Slamming terrorism as the common enemy of the regional countries, Amirabdollahian said the terrorists seek to fulfill the goals and desires of the world arrogance through killing innocent people so that the arrogant powers could dominate the regional countries, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

What happened in Kabul and the recent terrorist incident in Shah-e Cheragh shrine in Iran’s Shiraz have a single origin, he warned, adding, “In order to fight it we should have a united strategy.”

Amirabdollahian stressed that countering terrorism requires coordination with full force.

For his part, Muttaqi hailed the brotherly and friendly ties between the people of Afghanistan and Iran.

He also emphasized that neighboring countries should decisively fight against terrorism through cooperation.

At least 20 people have been killed after a suspected suicide bomber killed himself outside the foreign ministry in Kabul on Wednesday in the second major attack in the Afghan capital this year.

ISIL (ISIS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the deadly suicide blast.
