TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hundreds of demonstrators gathered on Saturday to protest the nighttime closure of emergency services at a hospital in France's Brittany region.

The protest unfolded outside the Quimper Governorship, where individuals voiced their opposition to the policy affecting Carhaix Hospital.

During the demonstration, a catapult was brought forward, and notable figures such as former presidential candidate Philippe Poutou and Carhaix Mayor Christian Troadec joined in the protest.

As tensions escalated and a scuffle broke out, security forces intervened, deploying pepper gas to prevent protesters from nearing the Governorship.

Reports indicate that a tragic incident occurred on September 28 when a six-month-old baby allegedly lost their life due to a lack of timely intervention when the hospital's emergency services were closed.

While the hospital management confirmed the infant's demise, they refuted claims regarding the specific cause of death.

Since September 4, Carhaix Hospital's emergency room has been inaccessible from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. local time.
