Iran One of Scientific Hubs in World: Malaysian Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Establishing a relationship with Iran has a strategic value, the minister of higher education of Malaysia said, adding that Iran is regarded as one of the world’s scientific centers and has significantly progressed in this field despite sanctions imposed against the country.

In a meeting with the chancellor of the Islamic Azad University (IAU), Isfahan Branch, in Isfahan on Sunday, Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin hailed the resistance of the Iranian nation in the face of the toughest unilateral US sanctions imposed against the country.

Despite all the challenges, Iranians are an educated people equipped with advanced technology and technical know-how, the Malaysian minister highlighted.

Increasing scientific cooperation between Iranian and Malaysian scientists is the main aim behind the visit by a scientific delegation of Malaysia to Iran, Khaled bin Nordin stated.

Emphasizing that Iran’s influence in the scientific field cannot be underestimated, he said that Iran is a member of BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the D-8 (eight developing countries) and also the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and is considered as a great regional power in the Middle East with rich oil and gas reserves.

In this expert-level meeting, cooperation documents were inked between a number of Malaysian universities and the Isfahan branch of the Islamic Azad University to bolster scientific relations.
