Iran Offers to Host OIC Meeting on Palestine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian expressed Iran’s readiness to play host to an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) about the critical situation in Palestine.

In a telephone conversation with OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha on Monday, the top Iranian diplomat denounced the Zionist regime’s brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Stressing the need for concerted action by Muslim nations to help Palestinians, Amirabdollahian called for an emergency meeting of the OIC foreign ministers to address the tragic circumstances in Gaza.

Voicing Iran’s readiness to host the OIC extraordinary ministerial meeting over Palestine, Amirabdollahian called for urgent action by all Muslim governments in support of the Palestinian people.

For his part, the OIC chief condemned the Israeli strikes against Palestinians.

Taha also emphasized the necessity for cooperation and coordination among Islamic countries to work out a united reaction to the Zionist regime’s acts of aggression.

He also welcomed Iran’s proposal for an extraordinary meeting of the OIC foreign ministers on Palestine.

On October 7, the Palestinian fighters launched a hybrid surprise operation, dubbed Al-Aqsa Storm, outside Gaza after Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in recent days and a record number of Palestinians were killed by Israel in recent months.

The Zionist regime has responded by pounding the besieged Gaza Strip after formally declaring war against the Palestinian Hamas group.
