Iran, Oman Ink ICT Cooperation Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ministers from Iran and Oman have signed an agreement that entails cooperation between the two neighbors in the fields of telecommunication, information technology and postal system.

The cooperation deal was signed by Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Issa Zarepour and Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Saeed Bin Hamoud Al-Mawali in Muscat on Thursday.

The agreement will allow the two countries to improve postal services, invest in the construction of datacenters, provide high-quality electronic services, develop communication infrastructures, and increase their quality.

Iran and Oman had already inked a memorandum of understanding in May to bolster bilateral ties in the ICT sector.

Apart from meetings with Oman’s minister of higher education, head of Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and head of Investment Authority, the Iranian ICT minister visited the offices of Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel), Oman Post Company, and Oman Data Park (LLC) during his stay in Muscat.
