Massive Rally in London Demands Ceasefire in Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Thousands gathered in London's Parliament Square on Saturday, rallying against Israeli attacks in Gaza and urging an immediate ceasefire in the region.

Since October 7, over 34,300 individuals have been brutally killed in the Israeli genocidal war, prompting widespread condemnation.

Carrying Palestinian flags, demonstrators voiced solidarity with Gaza and criticized the British government's stance on Israel. Chants of "Free Palestine" and "Stop the genocide" echoed through the streets as the march progressed towards Hyde Park. Notably, protesters also directed criticism towards Keir Starmer, leader of the Labour Party, for his support of Israel.

Among the diverse crowd were members of anti-Israel Jewish groups, underscoring the breadth of opposition to the ongoing Zionist violence. Alongside pro-Israeli demonstrators, some pro-Palestine Jewish protesters bore banners proclaiming, "I am openly Jewish and against genocide."

Jude Bliss, a 39-year-old protester, emphasized the importance of solidarity with Gazans and Palestinians, describing the current situation as a "genocide." He decried the continued arms supply to Israel from the US and UK, citing the devastating toll on Palestinian lives, particularly among children. Bliss urged the British government to immediately halt arms provision to Israel, condemning it as support for "Israel's war machine."

Notable figures attending the rally included Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the UK, and Michelle O'Neill, the first minister of Northern Ireland.

The rally coincides with ongoing Israeli violence in the enclave, with the Zionist regime accused of committing genocide. An interim ruling from the International Court of Justice in January called for Tel Aviv to prevent acts of genocide and ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza. As the Israeli genocidal war persists, lauder calls for solidarity with Palestine continue to reverberate globally.
