Civil Defence Official Accuses Israel of Civilian 'Massacres' in Night Attacks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces are accused of "massacring" civilians in overnight attacks on homes in Beit Lahiya and Jabalia refugee camp areas, according to a member of the Palestinian Civil Defense in northern Gaza.

Ahmed al-Kahlot, the Director of Civil Defence in the north, conveyed to Al Jazeera Arabic that rescue teams are still engaged in efforts to extract individuals from the wreckage of three homes demolished during the nocturnal bombings.

Amid Israel's recent evacuation directives for segments of Rafah, Louise Wateridge, UNRWA’s communications manager, disclosed an estimated 150,000 individuals have already fled Rafah.

She observed a scene of families hastily packing and streets markedly devoid of activity in west Rafah Saturday morning.

According to the Israeli army, approximately 300,000 people have vacated eastern Rafah following the evacuation directive issued for the southern Gaza city earlier this week.

The military noted the migration towards the humanitarian area in Al-Mawasi since the order was issued on Monday.

Recent UN reports indicate over 100,000 individuals have fled Rafah in recent days, highlighting the significant exodus prompted by the military's evacuation mandates and intensified bombing campaigns in eastern Rafah.

The cumulative death toll in Israel’s assaults on Gaza since the onset of the war has reached 34,971, as per the latest figures released by the Health Ministry in the besieged territory.

Rescuers estimate over 10,000 additional bodies remain trapped under debris yet to be retrieved.

Furthermore, the Health Ministry reported 78,641 people have sustained injuries since October 7th.
