In a telephone conversation on Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pezeshkian reviewed the latest state of bilateral ties and discussed advancements in implementing joint agreements, particularly in the areas of transportation, transit, energy, and power plant development.
Referring to the recent meeting between the two presidents in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Pezeshkian characterized the talks as constructive and positive, underscoring the need for precise, swift, and comprehensive execution of joint projects and agreements across all fields of cooperation.
The Iranian president also extended New Year greetings to the Russian government and people, wishing them peace, prosperity, and sustainable development in the coming year.
President Putin, in turn, expressed satisfaction with the strong and strategic nature of Iran–Russia relations, noting a 10 percent increase in bilateral trade during the first 10 months of the current year. He reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to expanding cooperation and accelerating the implementation of agreements in all areas of bilateral engagement.
Putin emphasized that Russia is pursuing all joint agreements and projects seriously and in full coordination with Iran. He also condemned recent remarks by US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing them as regrettable and unacceptable.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Putin referred to Iran’s Yalda Night celebration as a symbol of the triumph of light over darkness and congratulated the Iranian nation on the occasion. He also conveyed his best wishes to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the people of Iran.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of continued dialogue and close cooperation, expanding economic and energy ties, and advancing executive agreements in the transit, transportation, and power generation sectors, while calling for stronger coordination to ensure the effective implementation of joint projects.
