Iran to Set Up Second Blood Fractionation Facility

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi announced on Sunday that the country plans to set up its second national blood fractionation facility in coming months.

Speaking in a ceremony held to unveil the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s new achievements in health and medicine, Qazizadeh Hashemi touched upon the organization’s demand for establishing a blood fractionation facility and said it will be set up in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2014 - March 20, 2015).

“We have requested the Iranian Privatization Organization to establish the second blood fractionation facility and for the reason a tender is due to be launched," he stated, adding, “Up to now, five organizations have announced their preparedness to cooperate with us.”   

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qazizadeh Hashemi said that 16 air relief and rescue bases will be set up in the current Iranian year and the number of bases will increase through utilizing the capacity of the Red Crescent Society.

He went on to say that the health ministry has signed a contract with General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces to provide necessary choppers and aircraft for the air rescue bases.
