Iran Loses to Croatia in World Handball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was defeated against Croatia 41:22 on Monday in the 2015 World Handball Championship.

Zlatko Horvat was a top scorer for Croatia with 12 goals while Sajed Esteki was the most prolific scorer for Iran with 6 goals.

“It’s the first time we participate in the world championship. The competition will help us in the future,” Esteki said.

The Iranian outfit began the campaign with a 35:30 defeat against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Borout Macek’s men also lost to Macedonia 31:33 in the world championship.

Twenty-four teams are participating in the competition which takes place between January 15 and February 1 in Qatar.

Iran has been scheduled to face Austria on Wednesday in Group B.
