Israeli TV Broadcast Interrupted by Intifada Messages

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - During the airing of a popular television show on Israel’s Channel 2 on Friday evening, the broadcast was briefly interrupted by a clip showing images of Palestinian Intifada and messages in Hebrew.

Israel’s Channel 2 said the interruption affected homes with private dishes, not those using main satellite and cable companies. The disruption apparently lasted for more than three minutes.

The Times of Israel accused the Palestinian group Hamas of hacking into the satellite feed of Channel 2.

"Stay in your homes," read the message on the screen. "The story is not over... there is more to come."

At the bottom of the message, an Arabic phrase read, "Al-Quds Intifada."

It came less than a day after Israeli forces raided the West Bank offices of Palestine Today television and arrested its manager over allegations of inciting violence.

The operation targeting the station's Ramallah offices was the latest attempt to silence Palestinian broadcasters the Israeli regime believes are fueling a five-month wave of violence.

Israeli forces arrested Palestine Today manager, Farooq Aliat, 34, of Bir Zeit, north of Ramallah, on Thursday.

Cameraman Mohammed Amr and technician Shabib Shabib were also arrested, the Palestinian Journalists Union said.

A wave of violence in al-Quds (Jerusalem) has killed 188 Palestinians, two Americans, an Eritrean and a Sudanese since October 1, 2015, according to an AFP count.
