Lebanon to Commemorate Imam Musa Sadr
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Lebanese people are expected to commemorate the country’s prominent religious figure, Imam Musa al-Sadr, on Wednesday, 39 years after his disappearance.
A large number of the Lebanese people from all walks of life as well as various religious and political figures from different ethnics and political parties will attend the event.
The event is organized by the Lebanese Amal Movement, co-founded by Imam Musa Sadr, and will be held at the capital, Beirut.
The motto of this year's ceremony will highlight Imam al-Sadr’s hard work for building a safe and secure homeland, Head of the Amal's Executive Commission Mohammad Nasrallah said to the Lebanese Elnashra website.
Nasrallah hailed Imam al-Sadr role in Lebanese nation's achievements.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Amal Movement official called the Israeli regime as main enemy of Lebanon, and said, “Foreign threats will end only with dissolution of the Zionist regime.”
He also lauded role of the three factors of the resistance, people and army in confronting the Zionist regime and the emerging threat of Takfiri ideology.
Imam Musa al-Sadr, the leader of Lebanon's Shia Muslims, disappeared, along with two companions, in August 31, 1978 during a visit to Libya to meet Gaddafi.
