Jubilant Syrians Celebrate 1st Christmas after Daesh Fall (+Photos)

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Hundreds of joyful Syrians took to the streets of the capital city of Damascus to celebrate Christmas for the first time since the eradication of Daesh (ISIL) from the Arab country.

They gathered at the city’s main squares, taking pictures with decorated Christmas trees and Santa clauses on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (PBUH), according to Tasnim dispatches.

A similar celebration was held in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah.

On Nov. 18, the Syrian army and its allies seized full control of Al-Bukamal, Daesh’s last significant town in Syria.

Major General Qassem Soleimani, who commands the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), on Nov. 21 declared the collapse of the Takfiri terror group in Iraq and Syria.
