Iran Beaten by India at FIBA U-18 Women's Asian Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran started the FIBA U-18 Women's Asian Championship 2018 with a loss to host India on Sunday.

The Iranian team was defeated against India 73-65 at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bangalore.

Fatemeh Ghazvini was Iran’s top scorer with 22 points and Sreekala Rani led India with 19 points.

Iran will face Singapore and Guam on Monday and Tuesday respectively in the competition’s Division B.

The 2018 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship for Women is the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup.

The tournament is also the 24th edition of the biennial competition. The tournament is being held in Bangalore, India from October 28 to November 3.

The top four teams will represent FIBA Asia in the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Thailand.
