French Special Police Forces Deployed in Dijon amid Gang Clashes

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The 'Research, Assistance, Intervention, Deterrence' elite police unit was mobilized in Dijon, France, on Monday, to help restore order following days of clashes between Chechen and north African communities.

Shootings, car arsons and confrontations hit the city's Gresilles district after a 16-years-old Chechen boy was reportedly assaulted by a drug dealer on Friday.

Several residents were injured during clashes as the rioters brandished various types of weapons and firearms. Security cameras across the district were vandalized which complicated the work of gendarme police deployed in Dijon since the beginning of the unrest.

Similar confrontations with dozens of armed men took place in Nice's Liserons district on Sunday where 45 citizens were arrested and three people were injured.
