Saudi Airstrikes Kill over 40 Civilians in Yemen’s Taiz

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Saudi warplanes struck a crowded popular market in the southwestern province of Taiz, killing over 40 people, local media reported.

The airstrikes targeted the market in the district of Heime in Taiz, killing more than 40 shoppers and injuring scores of others, Yemeni media reported.

“More than 50 dead civilians were sent to hospitals following the Saudi-led airstrikes on Shuhrah market,” according to al-Masirah television network.

The latest footage from the market show scores of burned dead bodies scattering around.

Yemen’s Health Ministry said hospitals received more than 100 victims following the Tuesday attack.

In a separate development in Sana’a, an entire family of nine people, including five kids, were killed after Saudi jets pounded the Yemeni capital.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than two and half years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, an ally of Riyadh.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
