TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Argentines marched towards the US Embassy in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, protesting Washington's policy on Venezuela.

Hundreds marched in the Argentines capital chanting anti-American slogans and burning US flags to protest against the US policy against the South American country.

The rally was led by Left Front (FIT), the Movement to Socialism (MAS), and the Socialist Movement of Workers (MST) Wednesday after they called on citizens to march to the US embassy in Buenos Aires to repudiate President Donald Trump’s attempt to intervene militarily in Venezuela, Tele Sur reported.

The demonstration by Argentine social and political organizations began at Plaza Italia in the Palermo neighborhood through the main avenues of Buenos Aires and stopped at the US diplomatic headquarters.

The United States was among the first countries to recognize opposition leader Juan Guaido as Venezuela's legitimate leader after he swore himself in as president last month, claiming President Nicolas Maduro's May 2018 re-election was a sham.

Earlier this week, the United States targeted Venezuela's government with new sanctions and called on allies to freeze the assets of state-owned oil company PDVSA.
