Four Coaches Nominated for Vladimir Alekno’s Assistant
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Peyman Akbari, Saeid Rezaei, Mohammad Reza Tondravan and Rahman Mohammadi have been shortlisted for Iran volleyball team assistant coach.
Akbari currently leads Iran volleyball league leader Shahrdari Urmia, while Mohammadi is heading second-placed Sepahan. Tondraval is coaching Foolad Sirjan, who sits fourth in the table.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF) Secretary General Milad Taghavi has confirmed that the four coaches are among the nominees to assist the Russian coach.
Italian analyst Tomaso Totolo and Russian Dmitry Sosnin have been announced as Alekno’s foreign assistants and an Iranian assistant will be added to the coaching staff.
Alekno will lead the reigning Asian champion at the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League and at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where Iran has been grouped with host Japan, Poland, Italy, Canada and Venezuela in Pool A. The other pool comprises of Brazil, USA, Russia, Argentina, France and Tunisia.
